Tippet — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Hans Zanger ("Tippet," "we," "us,"
or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Tippet mobile
app and related services (the "Service"). Tippet lets anglers log their catches
and see where, when, and what other anglers are catching on a shared map.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.


The short version

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, Apple provides
us a unique identifier for your account and, depending on your choices, your name
and an email address (which may be an Apple private-relay address). You may also
add a username, display name, short bio, home water, the year you started
fishing, and a profile photo.

Catch content you create. When you log a catch, we collect what you provide,
which may include:

from your photo's metadata (EXIF) when available, or set by you on the map;

water name, whether it was catch-and-release, and any notes; and

Location information. Location is central to Tippet and is treated as
sensitive:

permission, your device's location while you use the app.

algorithmically fuzzed (offset) point, or nothing at all for private
catches.

Social information. The anglers you follow, users you block, and reports you
submit about content or accounts.

Technical information. To operate and secure the Service we process basic
technical data such as your IP address and app/device information associated with
your requests, and an authentication token stored on your device to keep you
signed in.

Diagnostic information. We collect crash reports, error logs, and basic
performance data to detect and fix problems. This is processed on our behalf by a
third-party crash- and error-reporting service (Sentry).

Communications. If you contact us for support, we receive the information you
send us.

We do not currently use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app/site
tracking in the app.

2. How we use information

We use the information above to:

Tippet is a social, map-based app, so some information you create is shown to
other users by design:

remember its details.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

Apple (Sign in with Apple), Railway (application hosting, database, and
photo/object storage), and Sentry (crash and error reporting). They process
data on our behalf under their terms.

any purpose — including analytics, research, improving Tippet, and sharing
fishing-activity insights with partners such as outfitters and retailers. We
maintain and use such information in a form that does not identify you and do not
attempt to re-identify it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not currently show
third-party advertising or track you across other apps or websites. If we
introduce advertising or tracking, we will update this policy and, where required,
request your permission — for example, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency
prompt.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to
provide the Service. You can:

We may retain limited records where necessary to comply with legal obligations,
resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements (for example, records of reports or
enforcement actions).

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your
information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and authentication controls.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee
absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

Tippet is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has
provided us information, contact us at privacy@tippet.app and we will
delete it.

9. International users and data transfers

Tippet is operated from the United States and processed on infrastructure that
may be located in the United States (US-West). If you use the Service from another
country, you understand your information will be processed in these locations,
which may have different data-protection laws than your own.

10. Region-specific disclosures

California (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or "share" (as those terms are defined
under California law) your personal information. California residents may have
rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information; contact us to
exercise them.

EEA/UK (GDPR). If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing are
performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service), your consent
(e.g., device location access), our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and
improve the Service and keep the community safe), and compliance with legal
obligations. You may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object
to processing, and to data portability; contact us to exercise them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes,
we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide
additional notice in the app.
